Winter Blight

by Ysandra Silverneedle, Cill Coll, 17th Watch

Winter blight
ice cold heart
cold numbing to the soul
grief and loss too great to tell
the darkness to enfold

To Brigit's light
our souls do turn
and seek the glimmer there
the warmth of love
to melt the ice
around a heart so fair

drop by drop
 slow melting
the grip of worldly pain
that spirals to the heart
and out the eyes again
to Brigit's well
we'll add our tears
and hold our sister dear

that she may feel the warmth of love
and know that we are here
