·   Do I need to be of a certain religious faith to be part of the Order?

You are welcome to join us as a Flamekeeper no matter what side of the mountain you have climbed to find Brighid.  We are multi-denominational and non-denominational.  Pagans, Christians, and others are welcome.  Our belief is that Brighid the goddess and Brigit the saint are inseparable.

·  How is the Order organized?

We are organized as a Brigidine Order, and incorporated as a corporate sole. Our Abbess, Kim Diane, is the Order's Founder (she works on an old world clock - being a busy lawyer in her other life - so things often move slow here).

Our Abbess has an Advisory Council: Franz serves as the Moderator of Brighid's Hearth; Moira is our Webmistress; Seeker is our Cell Host Liaison; and Christie handles the bookkeeping. Elaine, Coyote, Elizabeth and Debbi are our Keepers of the Flame, and send a candle lit with Brighid's flame to new members who request it.

Flamekeepers have an opportunity to voice their opinions by contacting one of the Council members or posting to the General Forum.

·  Didn't there used to be Cells in Ord Brighideach?

Yes, there are still Cells, but Flamekeepers now have the choice of tending as Individual Flamekeepers or of belonging to a Cell. Cells are divided into shifts of 19 Flamekeepers each. Each Cell is named after a tree, in the same tradition as our sister organization the Daughters of the Flame.

Tending Brighid's Flame as an individual Flamekeeper is fine; there is no requirement to belong to a Cell. Each individual Flamekeeper just chooses a shift.

To join as an Individual Flamekeeper, join as you regularly would through this site. It's listed as an option under all of the cill type categories.

·  How do I join?

Option 1 is to tend as an individual. If you'd like to join as an Individual Flamekeeper, visit here to read more and fill out the forms. Individual Flamekeeper is listed under all the "cill type"s.

Option 2 is to tend as part of a Cell of 19 Flamekeepers (one Flamekeeper for each shift on the tending calendar). If you'd like to join a Cell, visit here to read more and fill out the forms.

Option 3 is to join as an entire Cell. If you have a group of 19 who would like to tend, you can join as a Cell. If you'd like to start your own, contact our Cell Host Liaison at seeker@ordbrighideach.org. It is not a requirement that the cells be named after a tree.

We hope you will consider joining us if you have a love for Brighid and a desire to bring light to the world through tending Her flame.

·  Won't putting my email address on site increase my chances of getting spam?

The directory where your email address is listed is not available to the public, it is only available to other members, so you should not see an increase of spam.

·  What is Brighid's Hearth?

Brighid's Hearth is an online group at tribe.net. It is a meeting place for Flamekeepers of Ord Brighideach, and other's who feel the call of Brighid.

We hope you will find a home at Her Hearth to share your devotion, research, work, poetry and insights about Brighid; a place of reverence, learning, and friendship.

While you are on our website, you can quickly view the latest postings to Brighid's Hearth in the block to your left. To join, visit Brighid's Hearth at tribe.net

·  As a poet, storyteller and musician I have felt Her force very strongly in my life. I want to do this to honor and respect Her.

If you chose to take on this responsibility, you will walk among others similar to yourself. It is a great privilege, honor and responsibility to tend Her Flame, and many of us have learned much as a result of this commitment.

A Brighid, scar os mo chionn
Do bhrat fionn dom anacal.

O Brigid, spread above my head
Your Mantle bright to guard me.
