Join Ord Brighideach

Becoming a member of Ord Brighideach is a commitment to the sacred work of tending Brighid’s flame. It is a quiet devotion, entered freely, and carried through presence, care, and fidelity rather than obligation.

Those who feel drawn to this work are welcomed gently, without urgency.

As a Flame Keeper, you join a living rhythm of prayer that continues across time and place. Each member holds vigil once every twenty days within a shared devotion, offering their tending in service to Brighid and to all who walk beneath Her mantle.

There is no cost for belonging. Devotion is offered freely, and each member serves in the way they are able, with care and discernment.

The Rhythm of Vigil

The vigil of Ord Brighideach is shared among many Cills, so that the flame is tended continuously, without burden upon any one person. Your role as a Flame Keeper is to tend the flame on the day assigned to you within your Cill, holding Brighid in prayer and remembrance.

The flame itself is always tended with care and discernment, honoring both devotion and safety. No one is asked to leave a candle burning unattended. When needed, the flame may be extinguished and relit, or a battery-operated candle may be used. With many Flame Keepers sharing the vigil, the devotion continues — and you are never alone in the keeping of the flame.

The Oath of a Flame Keeper

Each Flame Keeper is invited to offer an oath, prayer, or vow the first time they tend Brighid’s flame as a member of the Order.

There are no prescribed words. Each vow is spoken from the heart, shaped by your own relationship with Brighid and your own path of devotion. What matters is sincerity, not form.

If at any time you feel the need to step back from the vigil, you may do so with honesty and grace, in right timing for your life. Ord Brighideach holds no binding that cannot be gently released. Devotion is never maintained through force, but through willingness.

Those who wish to read a sample of the Flame Keeper’s Oath may do so.

A Final Word Before You Join

Joining Ord Brighideach is a step taken freely and with discernment. There is no expectation beyond sincerity, no hierarchy to climb, and no performance to maintain — only a shared devotion, tended quietly and faithfully.

If you feel called to walk this path with us, you are welcome.
