Join Ord Brighideach
What it means to be a member.Becoming a member of Ord Brighideach means that you are commiting to being a flame keeper. You will tend your flame once every 20 days, starting from 7pm on the date your vigil appears on our calendar, to 7pm the following day.
*Please note we never expect you to keep an unattended flame burning and if you need to put it out while away that is perfectly fine. We have several Cill's in the Order, so there is always someone covering that shift/vigil during those 24 hours. (Some members do use battery operated candles when unable to have an actual flame burning) There are 5 things you need to do in order to join:

Oath
We ask that each Ord Brighideach flame-keeper swear an oath or offer a prayer of committment to tend Brighid's flame faithfully the first time they tend the flame as member of the Order. Each of us comes to Brighid's service on our own path, so each of us speaks our own oath. Since only a minimum of tending is "required," you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a time during your day to tend Her flame. If you find that you are not faithfully tending the flame, you should resign from the order and pass your shift to another flame keeper. |
